The Named Patient import basis
Patients with life-threatening or debilitating diseases have the right to access, purchase, and import medicines that are prescribed for them by their doctors, even if the medicine is not (yet) approved and/or available in the patient’s country.
Patients and their doctors can do this on the named patient import basis, a legal exception of the general rule that a medicine can only be marketed with market authorisation. The general requirements for the exception to import a non-approved medicine are:
- Not approved and/or available in the patient’s country but approved elsewhere;
- Life-threatening or debilitating disease;
- No alternative available;
- Personal Use for an individual patient;
- Prescription from the patient’s treating doctor;
- Further requirements depending on the specific national regulation in the destination country .

Medicine authenticity
We only supply the original manufactured medicines which are sourced GDP-compliantly. We as a pharmaceutical wholesale distributor have to comply with the Good Distribution Practice (GDP), as set out by European Law and implemented into national law for each EEA country.
Read more about it here (EMA).
We are required to follow a strict set of rules laid out by the Ministries of Health, relevant International, European and National legislation as well as customs regulations.
We carefully choose and audit our suppliers based on the origin and quality of the products they offer as well as their company’s qualifications and ability to maintain a reliable stock. We negotiate to get the best price so we can pass along these savings to the patients we support.
