Kevzara (Sarilumab) for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Kevzara (sarilumab) is an interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor antagonist approved for the treatment of adults with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who have had an inadequate response or intolerance to one or more disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Sarilumab works by blocking the activity of IL-6, a protein that plays a key role in the inflammatory process of RA. Clinical trials have demonstrated that Kevzara, in combination with traditional DMARDs, can significantly reduce the signs and symptoms of RA, improve physical function, and inhibit the progression of joint damage.

In pivotal phase III clinical trials, Kevzara has shown to be effective in reducing the number of tender and swollen joints and improving physical function as measured by the Health Assessment Questionnaire Disability Index (HAQ-DI). Patients treated with Kevzara also experienced improvements in pain and reported an enhanced quality of life. The efficacy of Kevzara was observed as early as two weeks after starting treatment, with continued improvement over time.

Nanozora (Ozoralizumab) for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Nanozora (ozoralizumab) is a nanobody-based biologic therapy that has been investigated for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Ozoralizumab targets and neutralizes tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a cytokine that is overproduced in RA and contributes to inflammation and joint destruction. While ozoralizumab is not yet widely approved for use, clinical studies have shown promising results in terms of its efficacy in reducing the symptoms and progression of RA.

In clinical trials, ozoralizumab has demonstrated a significant reduction in disease activity as measured by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria, with many patients achieving ACR20, ACR50, and even ACR70 responses, indicating 20%, 50%, and 70% improvements respectively. Patients have also reported improvements in pain and physical function. The small size of the nanobody allows for subcutaneous administration, which could offer a convenient dosing regimen for patients.
