Portrazza (necitumumab) is a monoclonal antibody designed for the treatment of lung cancer, specifically squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Imfinzi (durvalumab) is an immune checkpoint inhibitor that targets the PD-L1 protein and is used in the treatment of lung cancer, among other types of cancer. For patients with locally advanced, unresectable NSCLC who have not progressed following concurrent platinum-based chemotherapy and radiation therapy, durvalumab has shown a significant improvement in progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) when used as a consolidation therapy. The PACIFIC trial, a pivotal study for durvalumab, demonstrated that treatment with Imfinzi significantly reduced the risk of disease worsening or death and extended survival compared to placebo. It is also approved for the treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC) following the demonstration of a survival benefit in combination with etoposide and either carboplatin or cisplatin as first-line therapy. The ability of durvalumab to enhance the patient's immune response against cancer cells makes it a valuable treatment option in the management of lung cancer. However, the benefits of Imfinzi must be weighed against potential immune-mediated side effects, and its use should be tailored to the individual patient's disease characteristics and overall health status.
