Soft tissue sarcoma (STS) is a group of malignant tumours that originate in soft tissues. Soft tissues include muscles, tendons, fat, blood and lymph vessels, nerves and joint linings (synovial tissue). As soft tissues are found everywhere in the body, STS may arise anywhere but are most common in the arms, legs and abdomen1. Is soft tissue sarcoma a rare cancer?
